National Certification (TM) - April 2026 Cohort

SSWAA Members are able to apply for National Certification, which is a self-paced portfolio process. 

NCSSW operates with a 'Cohort model'. Register for NCSSW at any time during the registration for the upcoming Cohort. Applications are accepted and reviewed during the registration window up to one week prior to the Cohort's start date. Upon approval of your application, you will receive an invoice via email. Payment must be made in full prior to gaining access to certification content within SSWAAed.

Once approved and actively enrolled within a Cohort, Candidates have one year to complete the process.

Once becoming a National Certified School Social Worker (NCSSW), certificate holders are expected to maintain requirements for active and current certification. This includes maintaining active membership status at the full or premiere level with SSWAA and fulfilling CE requirements per state of licensure/employment. Certification is valid for three years, at which time the certified SSW must become re-certified (see 'NCSSW Re-certification' for more information).

Because National Certification is an ongoing, self-paced process, refunds are not available.

This is the registration for NCSSW Cohort January 2026. 

Applications are accepted and reviewed November 1 through December 31, 2025. 

Payment invoice is sent upon program acceptance, with payment due by December 31, 2025.

Course materials become available via SSWAAed to approved applicants beginning January 1, 2026. 

Candidates have until December 31, 2026 (one year) to complete the certification.
