Promoting a Safe and Positive School Environment: School Social Workers’ Role in Preventing Cyberbullying & Supporting Student Mental Health

Description
Creating a safe learning environment and supporting student mental health requires a multi-faceted and community-based approach, in which school social workers play a key role. By supporting students experiencing mental health challenges and/or cyberbullying, school social workers can help foster safety and promote better academic and behavioral outcomes.
Join representatives from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s School Safety Task Force and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Division of Children and School Mental Health to explore current trends in student mental health and cyberbullying as well as best practices for preventing and addressing cyberbullying in K-12 settings. This presentation will highlight research-informed strategies and recommendations, including the latest federal resources, that support student mental health and mitigate the impacts of cyberbullying behavior.
