Webinar: Digital Health & Safety: What's New? What's Now? What's Next? 

This course (1 hour Live Webinar, Synchronous Distance Learning) will be focused on digital health and safety, specifically discussing research, trends, and tips/tools for cyber safety and support to mitigate impacts on students within the school system. 

Webinar Description: After 4 years of a pandemic, we are all on our devices more than ever before. With the ever-changing nature of technology, the emerging data on its impact on mental health, it is imperative school social workers are aware of the current trends and issues facing students and families. This workshop will explore the current "digital state of things,” and cover everything from screen time to social media trends (TikTok, BeReal), sexting, cyberbullying, practical cybersecurity tips/tools and more. 

Learning Goals: 

1. Participants will identify current and emerging research around social media as it pertains to mental health and safety. 

2. Participants will discover and learn about the current popular apps, and their pros/cons. 

3. Participants will recognize emerging trends expected to impact students and schools nationwide. 

Speaker: Katie Greer, MS, PhD Candidate 

Previously of the MA Attorney General’s Office and MA State Police, Katie Greer has been delivering digital health and safety programs to students, parents, school staff and administration, and public and private organizations throughout the world for the past 15 years. Katie's unique personal, professional and educational background has led Katie to frequently serve as a industry expert to various media outlets. Katie is a 4th year PhD candidate with a focus on adolescent socialization online.

Many state licensing boards impose specific limitations on course content, distance education, or other elements of continuing education, even when courses are taken from approved providers. It is your sole responsibility to ensure that the courses taken will meet the requirements for your license. 

School Social Work Association of America, 1789, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. School Social Work Association of America maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 7/27/2022-7/27/2023. Social workers completing this course receive 1 CE continuing education credit. 

Certificates will be emailed to participants upon successful completion of the webinar and completion of the course evaluation. Participants must stay the entire length of the webinar and complete the evaluation to receive credit. No assignments will be required for this course. System Requirements-- Participants must have a computer and audio to participate in the webinar. Attending by phone is strongly discouraged and may result in not receiving CEs.
