SSWA DC believes school social workers in DC are a valued part of the education of all children, connecting schools, families, and communities to support student well-being and success.

About Our Organization

SSWA DC was founded in 2013 by a small group of dedicated school social workers. In January 2017, the group received state affiliation with the School Social Work Association of America (SSWAA). 

Our membership is diverse; we represent DC public, public charter, and private school professionals who are in early childhood, elementary, middle, high, and adult and alternative education settings, in all quadrants of the District! We also welcome those who teach social work and those who have retired from practice within the school setting.
