Our Mission
IASSW is dedicated to improving the quality of life and education for children by enhancing the professional development of school social workers.
Organization Goals
- To enhance the educational and psycho-social development of all school-age children.
- To promote best professional practice among school social workers.
- To enhance more effective communication among school social workers, members of related disciplines, and the community.
- To be involved in social action designated to improve educational and psycho-social conditions for children and families.
Membership Benefits:
- Regional Representation - IASSW has representation on its Board from 19 regions–18 in Illinois and 1 for out of state members.
- Newsletter - The Newsletter is issued 9 times per year and emailed to each member conveying information on school social work in Illinois, Board activities, legislative issues, and job openings.
- Journal - The School Social Work Journal is published twice a year and is accessible online.
- Legislation Monitoring - Lobbying in the Illinois Legislature for legislation favorable to children and families.
- Job Clearinghouse - A listing of current job openings is available online. Listings are updated regularly, so check them on a regular basis.
- Discounts - Members receive a discounted rate for the annual conference.
